If you have been charged with DUI you are likely well aware that you can lose your license by way of the court system (a conviction) or by the Department of Licensing (an administrative hearing). The DOL will likely try and mess with your life in a number of ways, but one of those ways was illustrated again today. A client of mine had an administrative hearing last January. Since then the case was resolved and a favorable outcome achieved. However, the DOL finally sent the results of the hearing (a loss) 10 months after the hearing when the normal waiting time is 2-4 weeks. Is this unfair? Of course. As a general practice I don't name names, but the DOL hearing officer who did this (and who regularly takes nearly a year to render a decision) is Irene Haverty - oops.
