On October 30, a 46-year-old Anacortes man was arrested for drunk driving after an officer stopped him for speeding on Oakes Avenue. The driver had difficulty in opening his glove box to look for the requested vehicle documents and then handed the officer an entire stack of papers from inside. The admitted he had "two or three" beers and he performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was taken to the police station for processing and provided breath samples that were significantly over the legal limit. He was cited for DUI.
Note: Oakes Avenue in Anacortes is a speed trap and most of the individuals stopped on this road are allegedly speeding. However, the speed varies continually throughout this stretch and is noted by the Officers as a great place to stop drivers - oh, and increase City revenue. Like fishing in a barrel!
