Washington State DUI Information: How Significant is the DUI Problem?

According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, on Washington roadways, there were 1,221 impairment involved fatal crashes between 2004 and 2008. These crashes resulted in a total of 1,363 deaths, which is an average of 273 deaths per year. This accounts for approximately 46% (1,363 of 2,942) of all traffic deaths during the five year period. A driver with a BAC≥.08 or a positive drug test result is impaired.
