Everett Lynnwood Snohomish County DUI Lawyer:  Army of troopers to swarm highways over long weekend

If you do plan to drive to your destination this Memorial Day weekend - make sure to ease up on the lead foot.
An army of state troopers will be on the highways this weekend to make sure everyone stays safe.
The Washington State Patrol says troopers won't necessarily be hiding. Some are already out along the highways with their radar guns pointed at oncoming traffic - and they'll be there all weekend.
Troopers say it's easy to catch drivers not paying attention.
Driver Peter Muller got caught Friday. He had his cruise control set for 70 mph, but the speed limit lowered to 60 mph.

King County DUI Lawyer: No charges against Fife police officer who admitted DUI

King County DUI Lawyer: No charges against Fife police officer who admitted DUI

An administrative review says he broke state DUI laws, but no charges will be filed against a former Fife police officer.

Detective Roy Farnworth crashed his patrol car in December 2010 after he says he drank three to four double vodkas while on-call.

"Generally speaking, you have to not only show that the defendant was intoxicated, but also that he was intoxicated at the time he was driving," explained Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist.

There isn't evidence to bring a criminal case because police didn't find out about Farnworth until hours later when he called his police chief from home saying, "I can't take it anymore. I quit. I crashed the Mustang. I am drunk, and it is in my driveway with a flat tire."

Anacortes Skagit County DUI Lawyer:  Drunk family facing possible DUI charge(s)

Charges of making a false police report and giving false statements are pending on a 54-year-old Anacortes woman and her 29-year-old son from Mount Vernon. Officers received a report that the woman was pushed to the ground by her estranged boyfriend in front of his residence on 10th Street. She claimed her son drove her to the man's residence and then drove her home after the assault. The officers noted the woman was very intoxicated.

Officers contacted the suspect at his home and heard a very different account. The man told officers the woman sent him numerous text messages asking to come over and he responded she was not welcome at his home. She drove herself to his home uninvited and allegedly tried to come into the house. She fell while walking back to her car and then drove away.

A witness confirmed this account. Officers contacted the woman's son, who allegedly admitted he did not drive his mother and had not witnessed any interaction between her and her ex-boyfriend. He told officers he worried she would get a DUI if she admitted driving.
