According to the Anacortes American, after receiving a report of a possible drunk driver heading into Anacortes, an officer found the vehicle stopped in the middle of R Avenue with the driver resting her head on the steering wheel around 9:22 p.m. The driver, a 64-year-old Burlington woman wearing pajamas, smelled strongly of alcohol and tried to hand the officer a credit card instead of her license. When asked how much she had to drink, she allegedly answered “enough.” She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on a charge of DUI. The woman later said she had four or five glasses of wine. She provided breath samples well over three times the legal limit. She was cited and released to a sober friend.
