In Skagit County, Anacortes Police Officers responded to the 1900 block of Island View Place after it was reported a car struck a parked car and was trying to leave just after midnight. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the offending car was unable to drive away. The driver, a 17-year-old Anacortes girl, was unsteady on her feet as she got out of the car and allegedly admitted she didn’t have a driver’s license. She smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and her speech was slurred.
She allegedly admitted drinking but would not perform field sobriety tests, saying the officer should just arrest her. She was arrested on a DUI charge. Her license was suspended for a previous alcohol violation. She was uncooperative during processing but eventually provided breath samples almost twice the legal limit. She reportedly took the car she was driving without the owner’s permission after leaving a party on Hillcrest Drive. She was booked into juvenile detention on charges of car theft, DUI, driving with a suspended license and underage drinking.
