Snohomish County DUI News: DUI Attorney Hiring - how busy is too busy?

If you are in the market for a DUI attorney you have a very important decision to make.  Who is the right attorney for you?!  Tough call.  Obviously there are certain critical factors that need consideration, which include:  experience (sorry, 2-3 years of experience still means the attorney has much to learn); familiarity with the court, jurisdiction, and prosecuting attorneys; reputation (research the attorney – if there are signs of poor work, move on); the attorney’s staff (are they knowledgeable and professional?); DUI focus (if the attorney dabbles in many legal areas they probably lack some knowledge in DUI law); and finally, how busy is the attorney?  The last issue is one that is most overlooked.  It has to be remembered that good DUI attorneys are often busy, which is good.  But there is such a thing to being too busy.  If an attorney does work in personal injury, infractions, general criminal law, and DUI law, there is a real chance that they are cutting themselves too thin.  Every attorney needs time at the office to adequately review police reports, contact witnesses, research individual cases and DUI law in general, and meet with clients.  If the attorney is “too busy” then something has to give.  That something usually means cutting corners with their work on individual cases.  Be certain your attorney gives your case the time and attention you deserve.  Demand it!
