Skagit County DUI News: Alcohol Evaluations and a Second Opinion

If you have been charged with a DUI you will most certainly be required to get an alcohol evaluation.  This evaluation is to determine if you are alcohol dependent or at risk to be alcohol dependent.  The evaluation then recommends what treatment you need, if any.  Sometimes participants get an evaluation that is not to their liking or one that is simply not logical.  If this happens we advise our clients to get a second opinion.  However, the second opinion may only be invetigated if you have not signed a release to the court for the first evaluation.  If the court knows the diagnosis, you're stuck with it. Hence, and the moral of the story, get an alcohol evaluation completed early and never sign a release to the court.
