Everett Lynnwood Snohomish County DUI Attorney: The value of the video
Video cameras in police cars is not a new idea. However, most jurisdictions in Washington State have been slow to place cameras in their police vehicles. The reason might be money, in many instances, and the reason in at least one jurisdiction is because the police did not like it (according to one prosecuting attorney who shall remain nameless).
However, it is a good idea to have them in vehicles. First, it does protect the officer by recording what actually happens, not what a defendant says happens. Second, if the DUI suspect does actually look "drunk," then it should be painfully obvious. Third, it makes law enforcement follow protocol, as they should.
I don't think there is much argument for their value, from all sides.
