Anacortes Skagit County DUI Attorney: Senior Arrested for DUI in Anacortes Skagit County
On February 4th, 2011, in Anacortes Skagit County a witnesses reported that a car heading into Anacortes on Highway 20 was swerving all over the roadway around 1:35 p.m. Another witness in Anacortes Skagit County reported the same vehicle swerving on 32nd Street in Anacortes. An Anacortes Police Officer stopped the vehicle near 32nd Street and D Avenue in Anacortes and immediately proceeded with the DUI arrest investigation. The driver, a 72-year-old Anacortes woman, smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech and droopy eyes. An open bottle of wine reportedly was on the front passenger seat and a thermos containing wine was in a cup holder near the driver.
The woman said she had very little to drink and was driving "fine." She was unable to stand without leaning against her car and tried to grab the portable breath test machine away from the officer's hand. After she was arrested on a charge of DUI, she reportedly shrieked at officers and tried to pull away from them. She was taken to the police station where she told the Anacortes arresting officer she was an attorney before admitting she was actually a real estate agent. She was uncooperative during processing but provided breath samples about two and a half times the legal limit. She continued to say she was not intoxicated. She was cited and released to a sober relative. Anacortes DUI charge followed and so too a date with the Anacortes Municipal Court.
