Name: Tonya Harding
Claim to Fame: Former skating champion
Date of DUI: April 20, 2002
Facts: The former skating champion (and noted hubcap tosser) was busted early in the morning after running her truck into a ditch. Police responding to the one-car accident caught a whiff of "a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her breath," and a subsequent field sobriety test recorded a .16 blood alcohol level (twice the state limit of .08). The Clark County Sheriff's Officer reports on Tonya's poor attempt to recite the alphabet beyond the letter "t."
Outcome: Tonya was ordered to serve 10 days in jail for violating her probation from an earlier assault conviction by drinking alcohol. She was just one month away from serving out her probation when she crashed her truck.
Did You Know? She was only the second woman and first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition.
