By Riley S. Lovejoy, Attorney at Law – The DUI emphasis patrol “Target Zero” had a successful holiday weekend, arresting 57 allegedly impaired drivers over the 4th of July weekend. Officers and Troopers that were not part of the special DUI task force in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties also arrested 52 other drivers for DUI over the weekend. Target Zero is a new program that started over the weekend with a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The program is designed to educate police on spotting drunk drivers, and also informs them on the best way to conduct field sobriety tests and write police reports to get DUI charges to stick.
