Everett Lynnwood Snohomish County DUI Attorney: The value of the video Part II

Everett Lynnwood Snohomish County DUI Attorney:  The value of the video Part II

Videos in police cars have great value.  Recently I was watching a video of a Trooper in Snohomish County who has a good reputation and knows the DUI arena very well.   In terms of knowledge there can be no debate, he's good.

However, watching the video raised a few concerns.  The first is that when he advised the driver of the "voluntary" field sobriety tests the word "voluntary" was undecipherable.  I replayed the video several times and every word was clear and precise but "voluntary" could not be heard – it was mumbled.  Accident or not, the driver could not have known the FSTs were voluntary.

The second serious issue I had was that the FST instructions were read so fast that I could barely keep up, and I'm a certified instructor for SFSTs and read them every day.  Certainly the driver couldn't understand them then, right?  So why were the instructions read at a speed twice that of the Trooper's regular speech?  Interesting…
