Anacortes Skagit County DUI Lawyer: Oak Harbor Man Cited for DUI In Anacortes
On May 22, in Anacortes, Skagit County, a 53-year-old Gig Harbor man suffered scrapes and bruises after he was hit by a car in the 300 block of Commercial Avenue around 1:38 a.m. An Anacortes police officer patrolling in the area heard a thump and saw the pedestrian fall to the ground after being struck by another car.
The Anacortes officer radioed for an aid car and the suspect vehicle began to speed away. The officer gave chase and stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of Sixth Street.
The driver, a 23-year-old Oak Harbor man, was apologetic and asked about the condition of the man he hit. The driver said he had "some drinks" at a downtown bar but he knew he shouldn't have been driving. He allegedly said he heard a thump, but thought someone threw something at his car.
The driver consented to a search of his car and officers found a partially full bottle of whiskey, a marijuana smoking device and other items of drug paraphernalia.
The driver was taken into custody and taken to the hospital where he agreed to take a blood test. He was then booked into jail on charges of felony hit and run, drunk driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and for having two felony warrants out of King County for previous drug violations.
