Anacortes Skagit County DUI Lawyer: Car rolling backwards results in Anacortes DUI
On May 20th in Anacortes, Skagit County witnesses reported a car rolled backward in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Commercial Avenue in Anacortes and almost hit two other vehicles around 3 p.m. It was also reported the driver appeared to be intoxicated.
An Anacortes police officer arrived and also saw the car rolling backward through the lot with the driver's door open and a woman in the driver's seat. The officer instructed the driver, a 51-year-old Anacortes woman, to put her foot on the brake and stop the car.
The woman smelled strongly of intoxicants and allegedly answered "a lot" when asked how much she had to drink. She performed very poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested on a charge of being in physical control of a vehicle while impaired. She was taken to the police station where she provided breath samples that were more than three times the legal limit. She was cited and released to a sober friend.
