Washington State DUIs - the toxicology lab says everything is now okay, but is it?

This notation is from the Washington State Patrol website regarding the accreditation of the toxicology lab. As you may recall the lab was disgraced in 2007 when it was found that employees were lying about certifying simulator solutions. Some of these employees remain employed with this same lab. Are we now to believe that the ship is righted? It will undoubtedly take many years for the laboratory to regain any semblence of faith. Frankly, good enough for government work is good enough no more.

If you have an Snohomish County DUI, Skagit County DUI, Island County DUI or King County DUI be certain you still question the validity of everything!

November 17, 2009 - Breath Alcohol Calibration accreditation – on November 16, 2009 the WSP Toxicology Laboratory Division became accredited by ASCLD/LAB-International under the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This accreditation applies to the activities involved with the calibration of breath alcohol measuring instruments and the preparation of calibration reference materials (i.e. simulator solutions). Copies of the Certificate of Accreditation and Scope of Accreditation will be placed on WebDMS upon receipt.
