I am currently attending the Annual National DUI Convention in Las Vegas. Much discussion here, and this will find its way into many of my blogs, focuses on the field sobriety tests and how ridiculous they are. The first question to answer is how well do police officers understand these tests, the history of these tests, and the "science" (research) of these tests. Through experience, and supported by the presenters at this conference, the answer is not many officers have a clue about the make-up of these tests. It's really sad how little knowledge they have regarding these tests. More to come...
